"Hello, Otherworlders. Can I speak with you for a while?"
The person who said these words was a man in his early twenties, dressed in armor.
It was quite easy to tell he was a warrior, as his entire attire practically screamed it.
"How can we help you, sir?" Bunny quickly responded.
This could be a chance for them to get a quest from a high-level NPC.
"My name is Alex. I’m a scout for the White Flame Guild. How would you four like to join us? I promise you’ll be handsomely paid," the man said.
A look of disappointment flashed through Bunny’s eyes as her hope of getting a quest and being handsomely rewarded was dashed.
"How much are we being paid?" Ragnarok99 asked.
"Well, apart from providing a place for you to stay, the guild will reward you with treasures and pay you 2,000 Valerian dollars weekly," Alex explained with a smug smile on his face.
His offer was too good, and no sensible person could easily ignore it.
"If you don’t mind, good sir, please give us a moment to discuss amongst ourselves," Bunny said with a polite bow.
"Sure," Alex replied, waving casually and giving them a bit of space.
"We’re not accepting this quest," Bunny said firmly.
"Yes. Although he looks equipped, he’s too weak to be of any use to us. Besides, Sir Broken is probably expecting us," Ragnarok99 nodded.
"True," BrawlerX agreed. "I literally had goosebumps standing close to Sir Broken, but with this guy, it’s like I’m just standing next to another mundane NPC."
After deciding, they returned to the scout from the White Flame Guild.
"I’m sorry, good sir, but we’ll have to decline your offer."
"Huh?" Alex’s mouth dropped open in shock, unable to believe the Otherworlders had rejected his offer.
’The others accepted without much thought,’ he frowned, and was about to speak again, but the four had already walked past him.
In the end, he could only give up.
"Dammit, I need to increase my numbers before the other guilds snatch up all the Otherworlders," he mumbled to himself as he approached another group of players.
Because of the approaching event, all the guilds—except the Olympus Guild—were recruiting players.
Here and there, players were being offered short-term invitations to join guilds. The contracts only lasted until the end of the Inter-Guild Event.
In another part of the capital, IceQueen, ChaosCleric, and a few members of the ChaosKnight Guild arrived.
The first place they went was one of the four church branches in the capital.
They were received by High Cardinal Alofonso himself.
The atmosphere inside the grand cathedral was quiet. Only the faint sound of a few priests offering prayers could be heard.
The moment IceQueen stepped in, flanked by ChaosCleric and three other elite members of the ChaosKnight Guild, the eyes of all nearby priests turned toward them.
From amidst the priests, Cardinal Alofonso, clad in luxurious white armor, approached.
Noticing him, they all bowed respectfully. They didn’t dare act disrespectfully toward someone like him—after all, floating above his head was:
[Cardinal Alofonso]
[Level: 98]
[Threat Level: Critical Threat]
"You arrived faster than expected," he said in a deep, composed tone. "I assume you’ve been briefed by the branch cardinal back in Red Fang City?"
"Yes, Your Eminence," IceQueen said, placing a balled fist over her chest. "And we promised to assist the Holy Church to the best of our abilities!"
"And Gabriel Reyes?" Alofonso asked.
IceQueen stepped forward. "We’ll make sure he doesn’t survive this event. The bounty is still live. Some guilds may be hesitant, but we’re not."
ChaosCleric felt his skull tingle slightly and wondered, ’Is this the same person that was defeated shamelessly back in Red Fang City?’
But he decided to keep quiet. Just maybe, with the help of the Holy Church, they might finally get rid of Broken Heaven.
The High Cardinal’s smile widened.
