Chapter 453 Pros and Cons
"In Z City." Veronica told Tom. She noticed a flash of guilt on his face and she simply decided to not say anything more.
"You've been to Z City? What were you doing there, exactly?" Tom retorted.
Veronica looked at Tom again and began to fiddle with her fingers. Tom had also begun to hide his nervousness by adjusting his glasses. "I'll be upset if you ask so many questions." Veronica told him
"Why are going to be upset? I'm just asking about the situation, Veronica. How did you meet your father in Z City?" Tom asked as he furrowed his eyebrows
"I traveled." Veronica said as she looked away. "I met him unexpectedly and it was a random encounter."
Tom breathed a sigh of relief. It was a good thing Veronica didn't tell the truth.
"Why didn't you bring her home for dinner?" Sarah said as she glared at Tom for being unhospitable.
"Veronica was still with a child at that time, so it was inconvenient." Tom told Sarah. "when I used to go to the capital for business purposes, I often had dinner with Veronica anyway."
Sarah simply just nodded and left after her meal.
"Shall I take you to the TV station?" Tom urged Veronica.
Veronica looked at the distant traffic and muttered. "Your daughter and son are older than me. I don't really understand when you had them."
"They're not mine."
Veronica couldn't help but look at him.
"My wife was divorced with two children. If I really loved her, I will naturally treat her children as if they're my own. In the end, you're my only flesh and blood. "
Veronica was suddenly disgusted by Tom's words. He treated her like garbage after all this time. She wanted to ask if that's how he treats his flesh and blood, but she decided to back down.
It was unnecessary, after all. It didn't matter to Veronica anymore.
"I know what the meal is for today." Veronica said, not bothering to show any kind of expression on her face. "I can see that you have someone outside waiting for you. I actually thought you got divorced again."
Tom laughed, "It's all just a game for me. We're not that serious."
"I think it's better not to have anything to do with other women in order to avoid complications." Veronica simply looked at him and pursed her lips. "Otherwise, it won't do any good for your career."
"You don't have to worry about that. I just need some money."
"What do you say about the shares?"
"I have to go back and discuss it." Tom sighed.
"Then come back to me when you have a deal. I can assure you that if you give me the shares and let Nick see your sincerity, and it'll be much easier for me to mention the southwest. " Veronica said as she planned for him.
