Chapter 450: Chapter 450: Should a Girl Say Such Things?
This sentence elicited a retort from Song Baiyan: “Isn’t it embarrassing for a girl to say such things?”
Tang Li’s face turned red and she didn’t reply.
After ending the call, she held her cellphone and returned to her dormitory.
Before going to bed, Tang Li composed a text message: “Don’t smoke like last night again, I heard that nicotine and tar kill sperm, which isn’t good for future conception.”
After the period, she added a [Soldier With Cigarette] emoji.
Song Baiyan hadn’t rested yet when he received the text message; he was looking for a signing pen in his study. His cellphone vibrated on the desk, and he picked it up to take a look.
After reading it, he couldn’t help but chuckle in his heart.
His hand, however, extinguished the cigarette butt in the ashtray.
The next morning, Tang Li made a trip back to the Lai Family.
She stepped through the great gates of the Lai Family just after 8 in the morning.
At the time, Lai Wenyan and his wife were having breakfast with Old Madam Lai.
Lai Yuaner had already gone to Lishan to film, Lai Shengxia had moved out after her engagement, so when Tang Li appeared at the Lai Family, even though Old Madam Lai detested her, lacking fire support, she didn’t cause trouble on the spot. She simply put down her utensils and, with the help of a servant, walked away out of sight, out of mind.
Only Lai Wenyan and Ouyang Qian remained in the dining room.
Tang Li did not beat around the bush but stated her intention directly: “I am willing to be adopted.”
Upon hearing this, Lai Wenyan looked at her with a stern face.
“I’ve thought it over,” Tang Li continued without paying attention to anyone’s facial expressions, “Rather than staying here and being scorned, it’s better to go abroad with my adoptive uncle and aunt. You’ve said it yourself, they are well-off and won’t treat me badly. Being their daughter, at least no one will call me an illegitimate child anymore.”
Ouyang Qian was the first to speak: “Have you really thought this through?”
Tang Li did not deny it.
“Since you’ve made up your mind, let’s get this settled sooner rather than later.” Lai Wenyan’s expression softened a bit since Tang Li agreed to the adoption: “Later, I will call your adoptive aunt and uncle. They are foreigners, and adoption procedures are not as convenient as they are domestically. If it’s really too complicated, you can go abroad with them first.”
Suddenly, Tang Li said: “Before the adoption, I want to move my household registration out of the Lai Family first.”
