In Fengzhou, Shen Hua, the sheltered daughter of a declining embroidery business, lives a fragile existence due to a chronic illness that limits her lifespan. Her family's fortunes wane, and her wedding plans are repeatedly postponed. Cui Yun, the respected eldest son of the Cui family, is assigned to look after Shen Hua and proposes marriage, believing it a simple solution.
