Alexander awakens in the ruins of an orphanage, bound and enslaved. A modern metallurgist thrust into an ancient era, he navigates his fate with resourcefulness. His endeavors to forge a future include creating plate armor, inventing paper, constructing roads, and imparting knowledge of governance. Such advancements, however, inevitably draw covetous attention from formidable powers: the naval superpower Cantagena, the formidable army of Exolas, the eastern superpower Adhania, the mercantile confederation Sybarsis, and the zealous Iyizarid. Lurking in the background are the constant threat of the Barbarians of the Barren Forrest, all vying for dominance. Amidst this treacherous landscape, Alexander, a humble carp, strives to transcend his circumstances, aiming to leap through the dragon gate and establish a dynasty that will endure.
